Jawhar Namiq Salm' Salim Sorani was an Iraqi Kurdistani politician and very respected person.
He was born in 1946 in a village close to Kalar In Iraqi Kurdistan. He studied Economy in Baghdad, later joined the Kurdish rebels and its leader Mustafa Barzani.
In 2003 he was appointed to the Follow-Up and Arrangement Committee, which brought together various opposition parties against the government of Saddam Hussein.
He was the secretary general of the Kurdistan Democratic Party from 1999 to 2003 and the first speaker of the Kurdistan National Assembly from 1992 to 1999.
He died in 20/21-03-2011 in Stockholm in Sweden.
